2010 DINNER HONOREES

Keynote speaker Megan McKenna and Rich Cunningham New Leader Award honoree Melissa Chedid share a moment at the 2010 Harvest of Hope. Ms. Chedid has since been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and is living in Bulgaria.
John Schweska, pictured, counselor for Catholic Charities, has been named Partner in Charity winner for his tireless advocacy in India, while St. John Vianney Parish in Colonia is this year's winner of the Global Herald Award.

Melissa Chedid gained the Rich Cunningham New Leader in Justice award for her initiative in starting an ESL class and Youth Empowerment Group for Unity Square Partnership in New Brunswick, and for leading social justice-themed confirmation retreats. She has also been nominated for the national Cardinal Bernardin Award for young adult leaders in social justice.
Below, Ms. Chedid is speaking at an Institute of Women's Leadership event at Rutgers University in May 2010.

The Harvest of Hope Dinner is an annual celebration of the Catholic Charities Solidarity Team for the benefit of the Sacred Heart Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

At the dinner, the top contributors to Operation Rice Bowl are recognized; food security grants are distributed; a member of Catholic Charities is honored for their work with the Catholic Charities Solidarity Team; an individual or group is feted for their work in global solidarity, and the evening is capped with an inspirational address from a spiritual leader.
